The Energy Forum is a part of the agenda of the Economic Forum in Krynica. Exploring the topics of debates held during the Forum in Krynica, the Eastern Institute organizes special conferences devoted to selected subjects, with participation of politicians and experts who enjoy established reputation.
A few recent years revealed the presence of strong ties between the necessity to guarantee energy supplies, national security issues and the need to counteract climate changes. Against this background, it has become popular to lay down the state’s energy policy in the context of the goals of broadly based regional and international security. This issue has been given priority also on many international political agenda, including the United Nations (UN), G8 Group and also the European Union. The latter of the mentioned, as one of the main driving forces behind the idea of environment-friendly economic development in the world, strictly follows the rules of sustainable growth in its energy policy. It is proved just by so called European Energy Policy adopted at the last summit of the European Council in Berlin. It sets out three primary goals of the future energy strategy of the EU, i.e. to increase competition in the internal market, guarantee energy security and reduce greenhouse gas emissions to the atmosphere. Analysis of these goals will be the topic of the 2nd Energy Forum.
The Partner at organization of the Forum in Prague was Ano pro Evropu.
